Esmeraude is a member of the Black Moon Clan from the Sailor Moon anime of the 1990s, making her first appearance in Sailor Moon R.
Cunning and ambitious, she isn’t afraid to use underhanded tactics to get what she wants. Quick-tempered yet surprisingly easy to appease, she has a notorious weakness for cakes and luxurious hot baths.
The Inspiration
My fellow cosplayer, Sindy Salem, created an amazing Black Lady persona with perfectly moody, dramatic vibes. I loved the audios she chose for her shorts – they were so captivating that they inspired me to craft a character of my own using pieces I already had in my closet.
When I stumbled across a green pendant in my jewelry collection, Esmeraude instantly came to mind—and the character came to life.

I recreated Esmeraude’s iconic look with a sleek black fitted dress and long vinyl gloves borrowed from Delilla’s wardrobe. The finishing touch was my green pendant, set on a gold chain, paired with a 3D-printed tiara for that signature touch of royalty.
For the makeup, I kept it classic: bold magenta lips and perfectly defined eyes to capture her dramatic, commanding style.
